- - -- - -die sich selbst für steuerlich belastet halten durch - - - und veranlagt worden sind [mit vielen Personen],andere, die sie als Nachbarn gut kennen, - - - die zu geringem Zensus mit wenigen Personenveranlagt wurden, obwohl sie eine Menge von steuerfreien Personen haben und tatsächlich nur eine geringeSteuerveranlagung bekommen haben; und die, wenn das Gericht tagt, sich in ihrer Sache hinwenden und (ihre Klage) unterbreitenund den Fall darlegen, wie sie selbst, in der Vergangenheit mit vielen Personen veranlagt, zu einer geringeren Zahlgekommen sind, während ihre Mitbewohner oder Nachbarn, die in früherer Zeit eben wenig an Zahl warenund daher (steuerlich) entlastet, jetzt durch einen Zuwachs an Nachkommen (zahlenmäßig) gewachsen sind;auf dass die einen, die an Nachkommen gesegnet sind, und die anderen, die wegen der steuerlichen Belastung klagen,im Gericht, in Anwesenheit beider Seiten und nach Untersuchung der Wahrheit, eineGleichbehandlung erhalten und durch richterliche Prüfung und Beurteilung diejenigen, die in der Tat übermäßig steuerlich belastetsind, entlastet werden, und diejenigen, die lange Zeit steuerfrei geblieben waren, gemäß dem Gesetz der Steuerpflichtunterworfen werden. Nachdem nun alle von den göttlichen Verlautbarungen zum Nutzen der in Rede stehenden (Personen)Kenntnis erhalten haben aus dem mit entsprechender Verehrung strahlenden, göttlichen und anbetungswürdigen Schreibenund aus der angefügten Verordnung, die durch die allhöchste Machtbefugnis meiner Herren, der erlauchtenPräfekten, über diesen Gegenstand erlassen wurde, werden sie entweder das am Ort tagende Gerichtaufsuchen und ihren Fall darlegen, oder den Verteidigern durch die Übergabe der Bücher nachweisen, wieviele- - - Personen gemäß der Steuerschatzungen sie hatten, und wieviele Personen sie jetzt geworden sind durch Tod- - - veranlagt worden sind, welche - - -- - - jetzt in der Lage sind wegen der Menge - - -- - - glauben öffentlich - - -- - -- - -
- - -- - -who consider themselves burdened - - - listed among - - -others whom they know as their own neighbors - - - listing a few at a lower census rating,but having a great many persons as even tax-exempt and so receiving a meagerlist, if the court permits them to come forward in their own behalf and submitand maintain this, that though in the past listed as numerous they have becomea smaller number, while their fellow residents or neighbors, who were once fewand so (taxed) lightly, now from the addition of those born are numerous,cin the case of those said to be flourishing thanks to descendants and those complaining of being burdened,when both parties are present in court and the truth has been examined, they are to obtainjustice and via judicial review and decision those truly burdenedare to be relieved and those who have long been immune are to have liturgies imposed consistentwith the law.
